Internships & Volunteers
Internships
Interns will be highly motivated self-starters who are looking to gain access to and information about the day-to-day workings of a mid-sized professional theater company. Because of the small size of the ATC staff, the intern is sure to have many opportunities for hands-on work and will be required to take on projects and responsibility. Although there is ample room for specialization, interns will also be called upon to do basic office work such as copying, filing, answering phones, and taking tickets orders, providing a broad range of arts management experience.

- Production Management
- Development/Grantwriting

American Theater Company’s (ATC) internship program has virtually a 100% success rate at helping people get good jobs in theater, improve operations at their own organizations, and make important contacts in the field. American Theater Company, founded in 1985 and now the second oldest Ensemble theater in Chicago, is looking for two ARTISTIC INTERNS. One will work in casting alongside the Artistic Director and our casting directors helping to cast our upcoming Season 24. The other will serve as the ASSISTANT TO THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR working closely with him on all projects, serving as a liaison to the Board of Directors, scheduling meetings, and generally serving as his “right hand man (or woman).” Both positions require strong organizational skills and amazing attention to detail, as well as the ability to handle confidential information. Both also offer a great opportunity to learn what it means to run a successful theater company and to be involved with a rapidly growing organization.
We can be somewhat flexible with scheduling and require a minimum of 20 hours per week for at least three months.
Please email us with your resume and a cover letter indicating which position you’re interested in at jobs@atcweb.org.
